George obviously moved around a lot, marrying in Sledmere then moved to Scarborough and York before settling in Worksop. Odd this because shoemakers were not thought of as itinerant workers.

George, age 21, was admitted to the Register of Freemen of East Retford on 26 April 1829 in respect of 'servitude', ie, completion of his apprenticeship as a shoemaker.
